Vehicle Inventory Photo App

The Auction123 Mobile Application offers a streamlined method to capture and automatically upload vehicle images. Scan the VIN or quickly search within the app to find and select units needing images. Don’t have access to the VIN barcode? Search from the dealers inventory within the application to find and select any unit needing images. Photos will be automatically matched and uploaded to the vehicles in the dealers inventory.

Challenge

Leverage technology to create a  way to improve the car inventory photo process for the dealership and field agent experience.

Solution

An integrated Android mobile platform to streamline the inventory photo taking process, by allowing agents to simply scan a vehicle’s VIN to quickly locate and photograph the vehicle. The photos taken were uploaded wirelessly to the dealers inventory.  This solution made the agents and dealership staff more efficient and reduced mistakes.

Design Process

In order to identify if this product was worth building, as well as, what was needed in order to accomplish the project, we started out by conducting stakeholder interviews. The interview process began with the discovery of current state, strategy and vision.  We also reviewed existing process flow and requirements. The intent of our discovery process was to find out what their expectations were and what technical and business requirements would be needed.

Rapid prototyping!

I sketched and whiteboarded countless ideas with various design possibilities.  My revised flows were sent to the stakeholders for review and subsequently incorporated into low-fidelity wireframes and prototypes to test.

Wireframe and User Flow

To get internal feedback and peer critique, I created a low-fidelity wireframe.

Visual Design

One of the challenges of this project was creating an app that stayed consistent with branding while taking advantage of Google’s Material Design.

User Interface Design

We were able to successfully deliver an experience that allowed users to seamlessly manage their workflow and easily upload their photos to the dealers inventory.  In order to maximize efficiency, I designed an interface that was clean, simple, and free from distractions.

Reorder Images

Drag and drop is a convenient UX feature for users handling multiple images.   In particular, during the vehicle posting process, users have the ability to quickly organize all images displayed in a gallery.

Samsung Galaxy Camera

Manage your images directly from your Samsung Galaxy Camera. Add images already captured, reorder images, or delete your photos. All changes made in the Mobile Application will instantly update your inventory showrooms.
